HOW WE HANDLE WHAT YOU SAY
Privacy at Clevaa.
Clevaa listens to a question and explains it. That means audio, words and pictures pass through the service, so this page says exactly what is collected, who processes it, and what you can ask us to delete.
The short version
If you read nothing else on this page:
- There is no account, no password and no sign-up. You are identified only by a random id kept in your browser.
- When you speak, your audio is sent to our AI providers so the tutor can hear and answer you. It is not used for advertising and it is never sold.
- A session record — what was said, the lesson it produced and its pictures — is stored on our server so you can reopen it from the same browser.
- There are no advertising trackers, no third-party marketing scripts and no cross-site profiles.
- Write to [email protected] and we will delete your sessions.
What a lesson sends, and who processes it
Clevaa cannot explain something without passing your question to the models that do the explaining. When you start a session, the following leaves our server:
The providers process this content to return a response to us. We do not send them your name, your email or your browser identifier, and we do not ask them to build a profile of you. Their own terms govern what they do as processors; we do not control their internal retention.
- Your spoken audio and your typed questions go to OpenAI, which runs the live voice conversation and the transcription.
- The text of your question and the conversation so far goes to Anthropic, which writes the lesson, answers follow-ups, grades a teach-back and suggests topics.
- A short description of each picture goes to Google, whose Gemini models generate the lesson illustrations.
What stays on your device
Clevaa keeps a small amount of data in the browser itself, and none of it is shared with another site:
- A cookie named clevaa_device: a signed random identifier, set for one year, marked HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict. It is what lets your sessions belong to you without an account, and what enforces the free-session allowance. It is strictly necessary for the service to work, which is why there is no consent banner asking about it.
- Browser storage holding the same random id, the optional name you typed, your chosen lesson language, and a cached list of suggested topics.
- Clearing your browser data removes all of this. It also means the server can no longer connect you to your earlier sessions, including for a deletion request.
What we keep on the server
For each session we store the conversation transcript, the lesson the tutor built, the pictures it generated, the timing and usage numbers we use to run and improve the service, which site or page linked you to Clevaa (for another site, only its name, such as news.ycombinator.com) with any campaign tag in that link, and any rating or comment you left at the end. If you fill in the form asking for more sessions, we also store the name, email and note you chose to give.
We log your IP address briefly to rate-limit abuse, and we store a one-way hash of it — not the address itself — to count the free sessions used by a network. Session records are reachable only by the browser that created them or by an administrator over an authenticated connection.
How long it is kept
Being honest about where we are: Clevaa is an early-access project and automatic deletion is not built yet, so a session record stays on our server for as long as the service runs. We intend to delete session records thirty days after the session, and this page will change when that is live rather than before.
You do not have to wait for it. Email [email protected] from the address you gave us, or send us the session link shown at the end of a lesson, and we will delete the record.
Children learning with an adult
Clevaa has a kid-friendly explanation level and we expect children to use it. It is built for a child learning beside a parent or teacher, not for a child to set up alone. Please start the session yourself, stay within earshot, and do not enter a child’s full name or email address into the optional fields.
If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to [email protected] and we will remove it.
Measurement, and what we do not do
Clevaa carries no advertising, no advertising trackers, no social media pixels and no third-party marketing scripts. Our public pages load no application code at all. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
For page counts we use a cookieless analytics tool, Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records that a page was viewed without setting a cookie, without fingerprinting the visitor and without following anyone between sites.
Your choices and your rights
You can use Clevaa without giving a name or an email; those fields are optional and the service works without them. You can refuse the microphone and type instead. You can clear your browser data at any time to end the connection between this browser and your sessions.
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, for its correction, for its deletion, and you may raise a grievance with us. Write to [email protected] and we will answer. If you are in a region with comparable rights, such as the EU or the UK, write to the same address and we will handle the request the same way.
Security, and who runs this
The site is served over HTTPS only, the administrative interface requires a password, and session records and their pictures are checked against the owning browser on every request. No system is perfect and this is an early-access project run by one person, so please do not put sensitive personal information, health details or anything confidential into a lesson.
Clevaa is run by an individual in India as an unregistered side project, not by a registered company. If that changes, this page will say so. Questions, deletion requests and grievances: [email protected].
Changes to this page
First published on 20 September 2026. Updated on 25 September 2026: session records now note which site or page linked you to Clevaa. When something material changes — a new provider, a shorter retention period, analytics going live — we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
